Community rules

Wortikus is meant for rounds in which everyone feels comfortable. These rules apply wherever others can see or read you: in the chat, in your answers and in your player name.

The rules

  • Treat each other with respect

Teasing is part of the game, insults are not. Nobody is put down for their origin, skin colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.

  • No harassment

Anyone who says no, blocks you or leaves the lobby is left alone. No stalking, no threats, no exposing people, and not through a new account either.

  • Nothing sexual

No sexual messages, innuendo or requests directed at others, and not as a player name or an answer either.

  • No contact details, no meetings

Do not ask anyone for a phone number, address, school, email address or accounts on other services, and do not give out your own. Do not suggest meeting up. The game tries to filter out links, email addresses, phone numbers and @handles from chat, answers and player names. No filter catches everything.

  • Protect children and teenagers

Anything that endangers minors is forbidden: sexual advances, gaining trust under false pretences, asking for pictures, contact details or meetings. We give such reports priority and pass them on to the authorities where that is required.

  • Play fair

No spam, no cheating, no false reports about others.

Reporting and blocking

Wherever the app shows you another player, you will find “Report” and “Block User”. You can report a chat message, an answer, a player name or the person as such.

The game attaches the relevant part of the chat to the report by itself; you do not have to retype anything. You get a confirmation and, later, a message telling you what was decided.

You no longer see messages from players you have blocked, and you no longer end up in the same new lobby.

What happens after a violation

Depending on how serious it is, the result is a warning, a mute in the chat or a ban of the account, for a limited time or permanently. A warning does not have to come first.

Anyone who is reported by several players, or who keeps running into the filter, can be muted automatically for 24 hours.

Reasons and objections

Anyone who is warned, muted or banned is told the reason and how long the measure lasts. The same notice explains how to object if you think the decision is wrong.

In an emergency

If someone is in immediate danger, contact the police or the emergency services first. A report in the app is no substitute for that.
